Events at our Care Homes

At East Anglia Care Homes we offer a wide range of events and activities for our residents. Our aim is to ensure that our events act as a catalyst to bring residents, staff and families together. We constantly look for fresh and innovative ways to connect with our residents and tailor our activities as best we can according to their hobbies and interests. We have two members of staff which specifically work as events co-ordinators and take responsibility for developing an imaginative programme of events.

Our current events include:

  • Pamper Time – We believe everyone should have a little luxury so we offer pampering sessions where residents can have manicures, pedicures and even get their hair styled.

  • Coffee Mornings – Our coffee mornings are an opportunity to bring our residents and families together. In the summer these take place outside in our courtyards. Whatever the weather, freshly baked caked are always a prominent feature!

  • Music – Sutherlands was named after the great operatic Soprano Joan Sutherland and music continues to be a significant inspiration to East Anglia Care Homes. Each of our Care Homes has a piano and we regularly invite pianists to perform for our residents. We also have singers and instrumentalists that come in to the homes to perform for us. We have developed strong relationships with several schools in the local area and it is always a great delight to welcome their choirs into our Care Homes to perform for our residents.

  • Holy Communion – An opportunity for families and friends to join our residents in prayer.

  • Afternoon Tea – We all enjoy a delicious afternoon tea when the sun is shining and we can relax in the company of our loved ones with some tea, sandwiches and freshly baked cakes.

  • Quizzes – Everyone loves a little bit of friendly competition now and again. This is a great for residents to socialise with each other and win some prizes.

  • One to One time – Quality time on a one to one basis is always undervalued. We believe this time is important, so our activities co-ordinators schedule in time for one to one conversations and activities with our residents.

  • School choir – We feel the community is important, and love to get the local schools involved with our home.

  • Reminiscence – This is specifically tailored to meet resident’s needs, we have found it most beneficial for residents who suffer from dementia as this therapy has been proven to delay the effects of memory loss.

  • Arts and Crafts – A chance to be creative and design and make something handmade that you are proud to show your family and friends, or even make a birthday or Christmas present for that someone special.

  • Movie afternoons – A perfect opportunity to just relax and unwind in front of a good film. At East Anglia Care Homes we give residents a chance to do just that and lose themselves in a good, enjoyable film for the afternoon.
